Find critical equipment fast

Hospitals, care facilities and emergency departments rely on a lot of portable, valuable medical equipment – and it's often missing when you need it most. Searching for it eats up a surprising amount of staff time.

Iiwari's positioning system shows the real-time location of your equipment with sub-metre accuracy, so time is spent where it matters most: caring for people.

Part of the same whole: a location-aware nurse call, a real-time situational picture, automation and care work data.

Portable medical equipment – a blood pressure monitor, a wheelchair and an IV stand – in a hospital corridor

Benefits

Location data streamlines work and improves patient safety

  • Less time spent searching for equipment
  • More time for resident and patient care
  • Improved patient safety
  • Higher equipment utilisation – fewer new purchases

Operational efficiency

Get the most out of limited resources

How many patient lifts does your unit have? How many are in use, how many are being serviced – and where exactly are they right now? What about wheelchairs, side tables or even the TV remote?

The positioning system provides reliable data on the location, status and use of your equipment. When staff can instantly find the tools and colleagues they need, efficiency and job satisfaction both improve.

Typical equipment tracked in a care home:

  • Patient and standing lifts
  • Wheelchairs and rollators
  • Side tables and supply carts
  • Blood pressure and saturation monitors
  • Oxygen bottles and IV stands
  • Keys and medicine cabinet keys
  • TV remotes and tablets
  • Portable monitors and pumps

Time and cost savings

Positioning saves working time and money

It's easy to underestimate how much time is spent looking for equipment – until you actually measure it. Over a year the figure becomes a significant sum of money, and that gets management's attention too.

When equipment location is known instantly, nurses don't waste time searching. That translates directly into patient safety – and more minutes for what matters most: care itself.

Higher utilisation

The same equipment delivers more

Utilisation up to double

When equipment is never lost, the same tools get significantly more work done.

Fewer new purchases

There's no need to buy new equipment to replace items that have gone missing. Investment goes where it's actually needed.

Better maintenance control

You always know which device is in use, which is being serviced and which is due for maintenance – without separate record-keeping.

A user-friendly system

Real-time location with sub-metre accuracy

Iiwari's positioning system consists of location tags attached to equipment and anchors that are easily mounted on walls. The accurate, reliable system tracks the location of items, equipment and people in real time – so even the smallest device can be found.

The management dashboard gives you real-time location, search and usage reports. On staff mobile devices, the location of key equipment and colleagues stays available throughout the shift.

User experience

Hunting down time thieves

"It's about finding the time thieves in everyday work. We know there will be fewer hands in healthcare in the coming years. We need to work smarter, not just run faster."

Torhild Kvinlaug, Unit Manager, Kvinesdal Municipality – one of the first adopters of health technology in Norway.

Integration

Part of the facility's information systems

Iiwari's system has an open API that connects positioning data to your HIS (Hospital Information System) or HMS (Healthcare Management System), as well as other operational tools.

UWB (Ultra Wide Band) technology is safe to use in hospital environments and doesn't interfere with sensitive medical equipment. The system can also be installed in older buildings and is designed to be energy-efficient.

Ideal for example for:

  • Hospitals and health centres
  • Emergency and urgent care units
  • Care homes and assisted living facilities
  • Rehabilitation and research units
